Privacy Policy
(Last Updated: June 18, 2024)
United Open Arms (UOA) places a high priority on protecting your privacy. This privacy policy was created in order to demonstrate UOA’s firm commitment to the privacy of our survivors, donors and website users. This policy explains what types of information is collected by UOA’s website, www.UnitedOpenArms.org, and offline, and how this information is used.
What Personally Identifiable Information is collected:
UOA’s website users and donors that provide any information on www.UnitedOpenArms.org or sign up to receive UOA’s e-communications voluntarily or do it offline and provide us with information (i.e. names, email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses). We may use this information for specific, limited purposes. You may always "opt out," either now or at any time in the future, if you do not wish to receive our messages. To opt out, simply send us a message on our Contact page.
Confidentiality for Survivors:
All survivor information is strictly confidential, will remain private, and will not be released unless required by law. We are assuring survivor privacy by setting up third-party trauma-informed intake specialists. The intake specialist will field the survivor’s call and do an interview to determine if the survivor qualifies for therapy funding. The intake specialist will not ask the survivor to retell their story and will not do any investigation or crisis management. An independent claims administrator will be responsible to distribute funds. Other than the third-party specialist and claims administrator, no one, including UOA, will be privy to survivors’ identities.
Confidentiality for Donors:
All donations are strictly confidential and will remain private. For electronic donations, some personal information is required by our 3rd party payments processor (currently, Givebutter) or our Bank (for Zelle) to process the transaction. Any personal information will be kept confidential, and access to this information will be limited to those within United Open Arms that have a need to know only to enable the processing of online payments, automated email receipts, refunds, issuing charitable donation receipts once UOA is authorized, and to handle other financial matters. All donations are strictly confidential and will remain private. Donor's names will not appear on our www.UnitedOpenArms.org website, will not appear on the 3rd party payment processor site (currently, Givebutter), and will not be released publicly unless required by law.
IP addresses:
UOA may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer www.UnitedOpenArms.org, and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic.
How Your Information May Be Used?
We may use your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send email alerts to you; to answer your requests; to process your donation transactions; etc. You may choose to opt out at any time by contacting us, which will cease all communications from us. We may also use your information to track visitors to our website. This lets us see which of our features are the most popular so we can better serve our website users' needs. It also lets us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many anonymized visitors used which features, for example) to outside parties.
Email Privacy:
UOA does not provide, sell, or rent any survivor, donor, or website user information (i.e. names, email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses) gathered online or offline to anyone outside the organization, unless required by law.
