Givebutter is a donations system and secure payment processor. This allows us to make the donations process very easy and secure while enabling many electronic payment options including credit card, Paypal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH, as well as offline methods including cash or check. What are the Processing Fees for Givebutter?
These fees go to credit card and payment processing companies like Visa and American Express. These fees cover the secure online processing of each transaction. They are currently 2.9% + .30 per transaction.
What are Tips to Givebutter?
Tips are an easy way for people to support Givebutter's free and transparent business model. They rely on these tips to support their mission and provide the donation platform for free, with no out-of-pocket expenses to organizations like UOA. Tips are always optional; donors can edit or remove a tip from their donation. Even if no one ever tips us on your campaign, as long as tips are enabled, Givebutter is free for UOA to use. What is Zelle?
Zelle is a fast and easy way to send donated funds directly from your bank account to the UOA bank account, with zero transaction fees. All you need is our email address. No account numbers are shared. Many banks now support Zelle directly within their banking app. To learn more, you can visit their website here. To search to see if your banking mobile app supports Zelle, you can go here. Zelle charges zero transaction or platform fees.
Will my donations be confidential?
All donations are strictly confidential and will remain private. For electronic donations, some personal information is required by our 3rd party payments processor (currently, Givebutter) or our Bank (for Zelle) to process the transaction. Any personal information will be kept confidential, and access to this information will be limited to those within United Open Arms that have a need to know only to enable the processing of online payments, automated email receipts, refunds, issuing charitable donation receipts once UOA is authorized, and to handle other financial matters.
Will my name be listed on the website?
No, all donations are strictly confidential and will remain private. Donor's names will not appear on our UnitedOpenArms.org website, will not appear on the 3rd party payment processor site (currently, Givebutter), and will not be released publicly unless required by law.
How much of my donation will go to help survivors?
Board Members, Officers and others are all volunteers and only external operating expenses will be taken from the donations. All other donations go directly towards the UOA Mission.
Will my donations be tax deductible?
UOA has received confirmation from the IRS that donors can deduct contributions they make to UOA effective as of January 26, 2024. Here is a link to the IRS website for more information.
